The following images are Prismacolor pencil drawings on various Bristol paper sizes from 2018. This series is inspired by the after-lunch drawings I've done on the placemats at my favorite Indian restaurant in Kansas City for the past decade. Those drawings are ephemeral. Destined for the trash. The bulk of my drawing practice is painterly and unlimited in terms of color, but with this series I've attempted to set myself the limits I find when confronted only with the restaurant placemats and a couple of pens. Here, though, I'm drawing the placemats on paper larger than I would find in a restaurant. No pre-drawing. The lines I place are the lines that stay.
